Breaking news: Mali has been banned from international football !!!
Mali has been suspended from international soccer after the West African country's sports minister sacked the executive committee of its soccer federation.
Mali are bottom of African Group C with 1 point from 2 games. Their next match is not until the end of August when they play away at Morocco, giving them plenty of time to find a solution.
FIFA blamed the actions of sports minister, Housseini Amion Guindo after he "decided to dissolve the executive committee of FEMAFOOT (the Malian FA) and appoint a provisional committee mandated to run the association."

Real Madrid's legend Raymond Kopa dies

The footballing legend Raymond Kopa has died at the age of 85.
Kopa was one of the stars of the Real Madrid side that dominated European football in the late 1950s. It was during his time at Santiago Bernabeu that he won 3 European Cups and also won the Ballon d'Or in 1958.
In Spain, he was part of the side that won 2 Primera Division titles, monopolised the early years of continental football and attained the game's highest individual honour at that time.
He played 45 times for France between 1952 and 1962, scoring 18 goals and was one of the outstanding figures at the 1958 World Cup, where he was eclipsed arguably only by 13-goal team-mate Just Fontaine and Brazil's teenage sensation Pele.
May his soul rest in peace.

Leicester FC's decision to sack manager Claudio Ranieri; wise or a mistake they might regret?

Leicester City announced on Thursday that they have sacked their manager, Claudio Ranieri.
Ranieri took up the Leicester job in 2015 and stunned the world by leading Leicester to the Premier League title last season.
Unfortunately, Leicester have replicated their struggles of 2014/15 this campaign,
with only 5 wins all season and just 1 point from their last 6 Premier League matches, they are just 1 place and 1 point above the relegation zone.
Leicester vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said in a statement;
“This has been the most difficult decision we have had to make in nearly 7 years since King Power took ownership of Leicester City,”
“But we are duty-bound to put the club’s long-term interests above all sense of personal sentiment, no matter how strong that might be.”
The club's assistant manager Craig Shakespeare and first-team coach Mike Stowell will take charge until a new manager is appointed.
