Thought I was the only one that noticed it,and then I saw a thread on nairaland asking the same question :why did Manchester City players not celebrate Iheanacho's goal against Tottenham with him yesterday ?
Seeing that his goal was the equalizer that cancelled out Harry Kane's penalty,he ought to have been celebrated. He was rather left to celebrate his goal by himself.
Even Thierry Henry noticed this and mentioned it in an interview, saying it was a bit weird for team mates to act like that.
Thinking about it,had to come up with these reasons why Iheanacho's team mates chose to ignore his goal :
- Maybe they were under pressure and did not have time to celebrate,as they needed to win the game at all cost, having lost their previous game against Leicester City
- The problem may also have stemmed from the fact that a new manager was announced for the team when the league is still in February (just like Henry said). This announcement may have put the players in confusion, therefore their lack of motivation
- It could also be that there's no team spirit in the Man City squad (just like the type shared by Suarez,Messi and Neymar).Every player seem to be on a level of his own.
These are just a few of my opinions on why the Man City team acted the way they did.
