Manchester United's loss,why blame Mata?

The first time Juan Mata got the first red card in his football career became the first time ever for West Brom to have a win over Manchester United.

Luis Van Gaal has blamed Mata for Manchester United's loss to West Brom (and am wondering why).

These were Mata's offences that earned him his first red;

• first yellow card was for delaying a quick free kick
• second yellow card was for challenging Darren Fletcher

Mata was sent off after just 26 minutes of play into the game,and am wondering if this was the reason they lost to West Brom for the first time ever (let's not forget that Arsenal also played 10 men against Spurs and still got a draw from that game).



Is there still hope for Manchester United in the title race? or can they even finish the season in the top 4?
