BREAKING NEWS : THE NFF DISSOLVES THE ELECTORAL AN D THE ELECTORAL APPEALS COMMITTEES
The Nigeria football Federation have taken a decision to dissolve the electoral and the electoral appeals committees of the NFF,which were set up for the 2014 elections.
The dissolution of the committees was as a result of the decision of the electoral body to disqualify some members (Segun Odegbami, Taiwo Ogunjobi and acting NFF president Mike Umeh.),who were aspirants for various posts in the Nigeria football house.
A statement made by the Acting President some days back, indicated that the NFF was worried by the hitches and complaints and widespread criticisms of the electoral process.
"We have discovered that nothing has improved and things are rather allowed to get worse,” lamented Shehu Adamu.
"The Electoral Committee has failed to satisfy the yearnings of the football family for a fair play and credibility of the process, and we are deeply disappointed at how people have been nonchalantly disenfranchised".
Then he continued :
"In the interest of fair play and based on our commitment to ensuring a credible election that will lift the name of our country, the NFF Executive Committee hereby proposes the dissolution of the Electoral and Electoral Appeals Committee, to the Congress, which we are calling for Tuesday, 26th August, 2014".
"As it is, we have to start the entire process afresh. In view of this, it will be impossible to hold the elections as earlier scheduled on Tuesday, 26th August, 2014.
"A new date will be proposed for the General Assembly and Fifa will be consulted on this matter, and as a result, the Electoral Committee and the Electoral Appeals Committee would have to step aside for now,” he concluded.
