FIFA best player awards

The FIFA best player award ceremony was held in Zurich on Monday night.

The following people emerged winners of the FIFA awards on Monday night:

FIFA MEN'S PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2016


Cristiano Ronaldo was named 'The Best FIFA Men’s Player' for 2016.
He won the Euro 2016 with his national team and was also part of the Real Madrid team that won the UEFA Champions League.
He scored 16 goals for his club in the campaign.


FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented the award to Ronaldo, Lionel Messi & Antoine Griezmann were the contenders for the award.

FIFA WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2016


USA and Houston Dash midfielder Carli Lloyd has been named the best female footballer in the world.

The award was presented by the mercurial Gabriel Batistuta, other finalists were Melane Behringer (Bayern Munich/Germany) and Marta (FC Rosengard/Brazil).

FIFA PUSKAS AWARD 2016


The FIFA Puskás Award 2016 for the “Most Beautiful Goal of the Season” was awarded to Mohd Faiz Subri.

Subri's free kick was adjudged the most beautiful goal of the year.
He struck an unbelievable freekick against Pahang from a considerable distance that swerved in viciously.

The award was present by Brazil's legendary striker Ronaldo.

BEST FIFA MEN'S COACH AWARD 2016


Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has won the award for the best coach of male teams.

He won the award for his achievement of winning the English Premier League with Leicester City.

The other finalists were Fernando Santos (Portugal) and Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid).

The award was presented by Diego Maradona.

BEST FIFA WOMEN'S COACH AWARD 2016


Silvia Neid (Germany) has won the Best FIFA Women's Coach 2016 award.

The award was presented by Frank Rijkaard,
other nominees for best coach of the female teams were Jill Ellis (United States) and Pia Sundhage (Sweden).

FIFA FAIR PLAY AWARD 2016


Atletico Nacional was awarded the FIFA Fairplay Award for gesture of giving the Copa Sudamericana to Chapecoense.

Football club Chapecoense was wiped out in a devastating plane crash in Colombia last year.

The Southern Brazilian club were en route to Medellin to face Atletico Nacional in the final of the Copa Sudamericana when the jet hit a mountain, killing 71 people.

FIFA FAN AWARD 2016


Fans of Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool have won the FIFA Fan award for the passionate rendering of the anthem; 'You Will Never Walk Alone' in tribute of the victims of the Hillsborough tragedy.


The award was presented by Russian pole vault champion, Yelena Isinbayeva and former South African footballer, Lucas Radebe.

Fans of ADO Den Haag (for throwing toys to sick kids) and Iceland fans (the famous viking caps) were also shortlisted.

FIFA LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2016


FIFA Lifetime Achievement Award was given to futsal legend Alessandro Rosa Vieira aka Falcao.

The award was presented by Andriy Shevchenko.

Falcao was a 4-time Best Futsal Player of the World & has also won the Golden Shoe & the Golden Ball in Futsal World Cups
