A fight is likely to happen soonest between the descendants of a Paris architect (who designed the Auteil gardens) and the French Tennis Federation. This is because the FFT wants to use the Jardins des Serres d'Auteil which adjoins the Roland Garros stadium, to create more courts with the excuse that the current court is cramped.
Jean-Camille Formige, one the descendants expressed hurt as he said "the destruction of this site just for big bucks has caused us much pain".To show how serious they are about protecting their gardens, Jean and others in the family have written to the culture and ecology ministers to protect the gardens, and have even vowed to go to court to protect their exceptonal site.
Gilbert Ysern the managing director of the French Tennis Federation has however, denied these allegations, stating that they reassure the descendants of Formige that they would not denature his work, and that after the expansion, they would like to show the world that there is no other tennis site like Roland Garros anywhere in the world.
